The app's new blocking feature -- suggested by users to WhitePages -- will let you quickly send callers to voice mail without fumbling through the contacts app, or perform a pickup and hang up operation when they call. Here's how to set it up:
Note: The blocking feature that picks up and hangs up is not working properly on a few handsets (like the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 and Note II running 4.1.2) at this time. However, WhitePages is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it immediately.
If you don't already have a copy of Current Caller ID by WhitePages, you'll need to install a copy on your Android phone.
- Step 1: Open Current Caller ID from your app drawer. Tap on the small block icon near the top of the app -- it looks like a stop sign with a palm in the middle of it.
- Step 2: Tap the hand with the plus-sign icon near the top right-hand corner of the app.
- Step 3: Press the Block button next to recent callers, or tap on the Phone Number tab to manually enter another number.
- Step 4: Once finished, press the back button on your device, and then the Settings button in the top right-hand corner -- Block Settings will be your only option.
- Step 5: Set up the blocking system to work the way you desire. You can choose from blocking just calls, texts, or both. You can also decide how you want inbound calls handled, be it sending them to voice mail, or picking up and hanging up on them immediately (which removes most of the opportunity to leave a voice mail). Lastly, you have the option to receive alerts when the app blocks a call or text.
