Top 10 Building Safe Backlinks In 2013

How to build backlinks is a common question many new bloggers ask, gone have the days when you could build backlinks from anywhere both manually and on autopilot, with the new Google updates things have been shaken-up and times are changing.

So just how do you build safe backlinks in the new Google age? Below I have listed my top 10 link building strategies that I use and follow and have had some great success in doing so.

1. Guest Posting

By far one of the most popular ways of building safe backlinks is by writing for someone else’s blog, what I hear you say? – I know took me a while to get my head around it. Basically you write an awesome article for another popular blog within your niche that has a huge amount of traffic, the readers read your article enjoy it and pop on over to see what your blog is all about, most blogs who except guest writers will also allow you to imbed your blog or websites link and some of your social profiles like Twitter, Google + links as well within a small bio about yourself.
Using your Google + social profile and writing for others is a great way to tell Google that you’re a popular guy within your niche.

2. Blog Commenting

Who doesn't understand the power of blog commenting nowadays? This is something I do on a daily basis and have seen some excellent results, for example: I have recently launched 2 new sites (Marks Marketing Toolbox for internet marketing tools and The Online Movie Store) I know a small plug but couldn't resist, and using only blog commenting I have seen their PageRanks increase considerably, for me Blog commenting is one of the best and safest ways to build backlinks for your blog or website – not only that but you get out and about (well in cyber space) and interact with fellow bloggers, marketers and others in your chosen niche.

3. Backlinks From Forums

I’m not sure just how great building backlinks from forums actually is in the new Google age but that hasn’t stopped me from doing it – I’m pretty sure it’s still a safe backlinking method as long as you are not doing it on autopilot with an aggressive automated back linking software program. Be a human and join a forum or two in your niche and actively participate in threads and discussions, offer advice and answer forum members questions is a sure way to show that you are an authority in your chosen niche. Oh yes don’t forget to use your link in the forum signature for the backlink.

4. Submit To Press Release Sites

Some people hate them some people love them, but do they still work as a means of building backlinks? To be honest I don’t think you can rely on Press Release sites online to bring you a ton of backlinks but to get the word out about your site and the possibility of one of your articles getting picked up is a good enough reason for me to submit occasionally to press release sites – what you got to lose?

Try - Online PR News, PR Fire, and Open PR for starters!

5. Use A Great Image Or Infographic

As the title says use a great image or infographic and share it across your social profiles this may not necessarily bring you a direct backlinks but it should hopefully bring you loads of traffic. Not artistically minded why not get your infographic done on Fiverr.com, I've had some great results from buying gigs on Fiverr.

6. Create A Product

If you can create a product - like an eBook, App, or a piece of Software, this can be a great platform to promote your website. I know for sure that when I read a great book that contains links or a link back to the author’s website I've always gone to find out more.

7. Create Videos

Google loves nothing more than videos nowadays and many YouTube videos you will see ranking extremely well on Google search results. Create a short YouTube video describing how to fix, help, or solve a common problem for others in your niche, add your URL and upload to YouTube – you’ll be surprised at some of the results you will achieve, especially if the YouTube video goes viral.

8. Submit To RSS Feed Directories

Using RSS feed directories to submit your websites URL are a great way to get your content out there safely, on autopilot. RSS feed submission websites allow you to create an automated way to backlink and promote all of your future articles from your blog or website that will need no more input from you, once setup sit back and let it do the work for you.

Try these: FeedAge, RSSbuffet, and ooBdoo to start you off.

9. Open a Yahoo! Answers Account

Not something I have personally done but I have heard of others using this method with great success, think about it – if you can answer and help others in your niche by answering their question on Yahoo! Answers there is more chance that they will become a regular reader to your blog (in theory).

If you have a post on your blog that answers a specific question on Yahoo! Answers then post that link as a reply to the question.

10. Submit Articles To Web 2.0 Sites.

Who hasn't heard of HubPages, Squidoo, and many more of the Web 2.0 sites? of course you have.

Write an article about your niche subject on one of these Web 2.0 sites, spend some time on it, do some keyword research, and use it as a stepping stone to your blog or website. Make sure incorporate a link or two in the content.
